After the WWII was over in 1945 she studied medicine at the Charles University. In February 1948 she lived through a stressful period as a national-socialist functionary, she was a member of its academic club and she was in danger of being arrested. She was a Milada Horakova’s scholar. In 1949 she got married to JUDr. Kavalír who worked as a legal expert.

Nada KavalírováShe worked as a headnurse in Faktory Institute of National Health of the uranium mines Jáchymov. In 1956 she was arrested and given five-year sentence of imprisonment. For two years she wasn’t informed about her family at all. Based on her father‘s ceasless requests she was paroled in 1959.

After 1989 her medical studies were recognized by Medical Faculty of the Charles University In 1990 she was elected the vice chairperson of KPV and in 2003 its chairperson. She has worked as the head of the Confederation of Political Prisoners until today. She has merits in solving the issues of compensation of polical prisoners, she took part in preparing and wording of legislastive proposals in this field.

As a chairperson she cooperated on solving health problems of the Confederation members. Her immense tenaciousness helped by adjusting the pension for KPV members, which was successful. She participated in solving and developing of the documentary centre. Despite her age she untiringly fights for mitigation of the consequences caused by the past regime treating the society.

On 28th October 2006 she earned the award Řád Tomáše Garrigua Masaryka (Tomáše Garrigua Masaryka Medal) for outstanding merits in the field of development of democracy, humanity, and human rights.
